Multifactor Authentication (MFA), also known as 2-Step Authentication, is a Microsoft feature which allows you to better protect your account by requiring additional steps when signing in to AMHA accounts.

Your passwords can be easily compromised. Multifactor Authentication (MFA) immediately increases your account security by requiring multiple forms of verification to prove your identity when signing into an application. By enabling MFA (or 2FA), your accounts are up to 99.9% less likely to be compromised.

How Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Works

AMHA Multifactor Authentication works by requiring more than one authentication method including:

  • Something you know, typically a password.
  • Something you have, such as a mobile device or phone.

If you only use a password to authenticate, it leaves an insecure vector for attack. If the password is weak or has been exposed elsewhere, it could provide an attacker with an easy way to gain access to network resources. Since AMHA now requires a second form of authentication, security is increased as this additional factor isn't something that's easy for an attacker to obtain or duplicate.

If you forgot, lost or changed your mobile device, you may reset your MFA by submitting a helpdesk ticket.
